Community Discussion > Visit to Quebec

My husband and I will be visiting Quebec in May/June this year for a convention. Apart from the obvious tourist destination (Dufferin terrace, St Lawrence cruise, etc), which we will be visiting as part of the social program can anyone recommend a special "must see" in Quebec?

The convention itself is in Loews Le Concorde in Quebec city. It runs for a week, then we have about 5 days, one of which is spent visiting the countryside, and then there are more business meetings. I know that the actual "at liberty" time is very short, and I want to make sure we don't return home having seen only the touristy things; we might never get a chance to go to Quebec again.

Hi, I live in Quebec City and you're coming to Quebec at the right time. You might knew it already but it's the 400th anniversary of the city and their will probably be many things happening at least in June.

So, I would suggest if it rains on one of the days, the Musée de la Civilisation, one of the most beautiful museum in Canada.

And if you prefer non-touristy things and if you like walking, well there is a beautiful park along the st-lawrence, it's called Parc de la plage Jacques-Cartier, no chance of seeing a tourist there I promise. It's about 20 minutes car ride from downtown though.

Oh and if you like local products you can go to Le Marché du Vieux port, it's near Bassin Louise in Lower Town, and not full of tourists. A trip in lower town in general is definetely a must.

Have a nice trip!!

Thank you so much for these websites, I had only found the 400th anniversary site so far. The Vieux Port was already on my list: I love markets (and food!)
