IMPORTANT - CHANGEMENT D'ENDROIT

Veuillez noter que nous avons changé d'endroit pour célébrer Noël à la Québécoise. Le nouvel endroit est le Swanson Hotel à Erskineville au deuxième étage. Il y a pleins de stationnement et un parc en face de l'hôtel pour ceux qui ont des enfants qui ont de l'énergie à revendre. La station de train Erskineville est à 5 minutes à pied.

Nous aurons de la POUTINE et de la TOURTIÈRE et un menu à la carte. Je vais essayer d'avoir de la bière Québécoise et nous aurons du Bloody Mary avec Clamato.

Raison du changement d'endroit

Nous avons rencontré Marc Denis qui est propriétaire du Old Growler et avons décidé que son établissement serait plus approprié pour célébrer un évènement un samedi soir comme la Fête Nationale du Québec l'an prochain.

Je vais organiser une soirée au début de l'année au Old Growler un jeudi soir pour une rencontre avec les membres et amis du Québec Oz Club of Sydney.

Père Noël et décorations

Dépendemment du nombre d'enfants. Je cherche toujours un père noël et aussi de l'aide pour la décoration.

IMPORTANT - CHANGE OF VENUE

Please note that we changed the venue. The new venue is The Swanson Hotel in Erskineville on the second floor. There are plenty of parking, it is also a 5 minutes walk from Erskineville train station and there is a park opposite for those of you who have kids with excess energy.

POUTINE and TOURTIÈRES will be available and there will be an À la carte menu. I will try to get Québec beers and Bloody Caesars (with Clamato) will be available.

Why we changed the venue!

We had a meeting with Marc Denis, the owner of the Old Growler, and we decided that his venue will be best suited for a Saturday night party for our group, we may celebrate our Fête Nationale du Québec at his venue.

In the meantime, I will organise a casual evening with members and friends of the Quebec Oz Club of Sydney at the Old Growler on a Thursday night early next year.

Santa Claus and decorations

Depending on how many kids are coming. am still looking for a volunteer Santa Claus. I will also need help for the decorations.

You are invited to see EARLY WINTER who is an official Canadian Australian co-production, filmed on the outskirts of Montreal and produced by Quebec's Possibles Média and Queensland's Freshwater Pictures. It was post produced in Brisbane with the support of Screen Queensland, Screen Australia and the MIFF Premiere Fund. Producers are Brisbane-based Trish Lake, and Serge Noel, based in Montreal. Together, Paul Doucet and Suzanne Clément, (who has won Cannes Un Certain Regard for Best Actress MOMMY), lead an acclaimed cast. The national release of EARLY WINTER begins in selected cinemas nationwide from October 13.

I am proposing to meet at the Dendy Cinema before the film at 5:30pm for drinks and then watch the film at 6:30pm. After the film there will be a Q&A session with the film director Michael Rowe. For those interested we can conclude the evening with a dinner in Newtown.

SYNOPSIS

EARLY WINTER is a beautifully acted, intimate, truthful and emotional story about how we seek happiness through our romantic partnerships. David, a man in his forties, lives a predictable life with his wife Maya and their two children. To please his wife with the latest gadgets, he works solitary shift work, days and nights, as a janitor in a retirement home and it’s here we see his enormous yet hidden compassion. But when he begins to suspect that Maya is having an affair, he starts to lose ground, his past threatening to smash everything in his path.

Presented by FilmInk, EARLY WINTER’s theatrical season will launch with a special Q&A screening with writer-director Michael Rowe. Rowe, who now calls Mexico home, was the 2010 recipient of the famed Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film, LEAP YEAR (Año Bisiesto).
